This live audio conference will address the current thinking and diagnostic skills necessary to diagnose and treat bipolar children and their families. The missing pieces will also be discussed, which is adequate educational planning. How to work collaboratively with a treating psychiatrist and how to be an advocate for the child and family if the child is not receiving the most up-to-date treatment will also be discussed. What is the role of testing and what type of testing is most helpful for these patients and the family and schools? The benefit for participating in this interactive audio conference is a heightened awareness of this diagnostic category and new skills to approach it with confidence.

Learning Objectives:

  • You will be able to review the psychological dynamics and the behavioral manifestations of juvenile bipolar disorder.
  • You will be able to discuss the special education needs of this population and associated challenges to academic success.
  • You will be able to recognize co-morbid conditions, the diverse spectrum of symptoms and differential diagnostic concern.
